Description
This was given to me by my mother in law. I don't know if it has any value. All that my mother in law knows is that it was owned by her great grandmother. There are no marks on it to say who made it. It may have been made by a relative, we don't know. I would like to know if there is any value to this chest as I am about to throw the stinky old thing out.
Re: antique chest
Inspect the lock. Use a magnifying glass. Since it is old and tarnished, it will be hard to read if there is any lettering on it. It will have the name of the lock company. You can then research the name of the company that made the lock and at least generalize what period the trunk was made. It is a family heirloom and is worth restoring. You can do that yourself. It's not that hard to do. You can make it useable again. It's worth keeping because of its history and sentimental value.
