Description

The person that gave me this lantern told me that it was over a hundred years old. This lantern is 2 tier six sided hexangonal, a wooden carved dragon is between each slat. Not sure but I thin the frame work is made from Rosewood. The nails look like they are brass , the hook looks like iron. 6 large glass panels and 6 small which are known as revered painted glass. I have researched online but not many like this , I have seen a 3 tier same style which was selling for $1,500 with a missing panel circa 1890. Not sure again but these lantern might have been made in Beijing, China. This a collapsable lantern , the glass panels can be removed. There are a few issues with this lantern but overall for its age its in good condition. Has not been electrified. Really curious to find out more about this lantern and its value. Seen reproductions of this type sell around $400.
