Description
VERY Ornate Antique chest that I inherited. My understanding is that it is Dutch and from the 18th Century although it almost looks oriental. There are 3 drawers and each has a skeleton key. (Pictured) They all work. The measurements are 48" W x24.5"D x34.5"H. I really don't know much else about it and would appreciate any insight. Thank you in adavnce.
P.S. If anyone would like particular pictures of something I missed, please let me know and I will take them right away and email or post.
Thank You
Re: Antique (Dutch?) 3 Drawer Chest
Possible the Dutch East India Company. They did a lot in Oriental trading. Some pieces can be very valuable. Might need a more high end dealer than is available. I will keep looking around for you.
Re: Antique (Dutch?) 3 Drawer Chest
Thank you for the info Kate! I thought about reaching out to the Keno brothers as they offer appraisal services or contacting Freeman's in Philadelphia as I live only 15 minutes away.
Re: Antique (Dutch?) 3 Drawer Chest
Here is a place out of the UK: http://www.petworth-antiques.co.uk/
They deal with some of the Dutch trading, I'm trying to catch my friend online she uses one out of NY as well. I would have several people look at it.
Re: Antique (Dutch?) 3 Drawer Chest
Thank you again Kate. I will check out Petworth. I certainly agree with having several people do appraisals. I was planning on getting at least 3.
