Antique Egyption plate hand engraved and painted

By santos760, 7 October, 2009
Description

Egyption plate portraying the Godess Hathor, or Nefertiti...? It is my theory that when king tut began ruling, it was said no further evidence of Nefertiti after, It was like she vanished. My theory she became a god and changed her name to Hathor, Egyption God. This plate is hand engraved with the leaves being a separate piece mounted on the edge of the plate. The paint is Metal alloy of copper, Gold. I found this at a thrift store in Southern California. The item was sitting with other plates and metal ware objects in the back corner. I was intrigued by its reflectiveness and it got me curious. As I picked it up and looked closer, I was amazed of the hand engraving and die-cut work. Then I look at the pigment colors they painted with and realized they are metal based paint. I was blown away. I realized that this was not easy to do nor duplicate. For being a graphic designer and digital artist my self, For the first time, I could not figure out how or who did the amazing one of a kind art piece. And for $8.00...why not. I would really love to hear another opinion or tell me if its authentic and the value. Thank you
