This is a very large footed pottery dish or plate in an oval shape. It is decorated in a thick rich dark brown glaze and over that on the top of dish it is splattered with a greyish glaze on outer edges and getting a thicker white glaze in the middle! The gorgeous feather design appears to be etched in the glaze. There is an underglaze mark on bottom of dish that appears to be a "crown" with another mark or "initials" below the crown. I can not make out or be sure exactly what the mark is. The plate is 15" long, 8 1/2" wide, and stands 1 1/2" tall. There is just one very tiny chip on top outer rim of dish that measures about 1/4." There are no other cracks or chips anywhere. It is a very eye-catching piece of pottery! I have no idea who the maker is.
