Description I was thinking it could be any of the following: gentlemens chest, secretaire, drop front desk secretary. It looks like it is very old, but similar to another piece I own from the 1930's, but the way the wood grain looks ... it looks similiar to a victorian dresser I have from 1904. Anything would help at this point. I would love to know the history, or just help identifying this item. Possible value is always cool to know... but anything at all would help! Thanks everyone!
Category American Furniture
Medium solid dark wood - not sure of exact type... maybe mahoghany
Distinguishing marks nothing whatsoever...but it is definitely very old (kind of resembles a piece from the 1930's)
Condition Mint
Size and dimensions of this item approximately 5ft tall and 2.5 feet wide... refer to picture... i am just looking to determine actual size. did not measure
Date Period 1890-1930
Weight heavy - takes 2 strong people to lift, but the chest is on wheels, so its easier to position
History I found it at a thrift store. Don't know nothing about it, just that it is very odd.. and old. Not to mention, it is in perfect condition! Not a dent, scratch, or anything wrong with it!
Price Paid (If known) $100
