Antique Gofun Emperor & Empress Dolls

Description

Here are a pair of antique Gofun Emperor & Empress Dolls.  They have carved hands and faces covered, I believe, with highly polished gofun.  The eyes are carved but do not have glass eyeballs.  The silk clothing is layered in neutral tones, gray and taupe. The empress' outer robe is embroidered with both silk thread and metal shot or gol bullion threads. Some of the robes are made in a jacquard silk, layers of linen are wrapped close to the Empress' body.

The hair and facial features are painted.  The Empress' headress is a bit bedraggled but could be restored.  The Emperors hat is missing.  The Empress has a large oversized wooden fan, the Emperor holds a wooden staff.

These pieces need some restoration.
