Re: Antique jewelry box

Hello. I have a larger version of your box. Mine has yellowish orange velvet inside and my hinges broke. Mine is simply stamped Japan on bottom. I researched it for literally hours and it is a jewelry/trinket box. Metalbase material. They have all different types on ebay. Just search footed antique jewelry trinket box and you can possibly figure out the price. Hope this helps:-) Erica

Re: Antique jewelry box

To answer that in 1893 the USA - being a rising power - passed a law that all imported items must be marked by the country of origin having until 1923 for complete marks. In the meantime countries like England and France just marked their pieces with "England" instead of "Made in England", which was required in 1923.

Some less sophisticated countries simply marked their goods "foreign" between 1893 and 1923 meaning it was their export product, going outside their own country.

Worth is not that much: you can find tons of Trinket Boxes . hope this helps
