Antique lamp, green and white shade (bakelite?)

 I inherited this from a relative who passed on. The lamp base is quite heavy, likely brass. I cannot tell what the shade is made out of, it doesn't feel/sound like glass.

There is a date of "1918" on the base towards the top, unfortunately any other information seems to have been eroded with age.

Any answers about what make/model it is, and what the shade is made out of would be appreciated!
