Description
Marque de Fabrique antique cylinder music box in good condition. The top has an inlaid wood design of musical instruments. There is a minor bit of weather/time damage to the inlaid pattern. On the underside of the hinged top is an index card with hand printed caligraphy for the 12 light hearted airs the cylinder plays. The card includes the serial number 23102 which is also stamped on a brass component of the mechanism inside.
1. Marth (the last rose)
2. Home Sweet Home
3. The Mocking Bird
4. The Blue Bells of Scotland
5. Auld Lang Syne
6. Robin ?Oh'air?
7. Old Folks at Home
8. The Campbells Are Coming
9. Coming Through the Rye
10. Annie Laurie
11. Old Black Joe
12. Sweet Bye and Bye
This a great sound for the light hearted genre of the airs. You can set the cylinder to play all 12 airs sequentially or set it to repeat one. It is not only a decoratively interesting piece, but enjoyable to play/use once in a while and is a great conversation piece as you can observe the metal bars like a player piano being plucked by the spikes on the cylinder. People are fascinated to watch it and enjoy the sounds.
I would like to know the current value (estimate/appraisal) and although I don't want to, may have to sell it and would like to know the best venue for getting the most financial reimbursement. Thanks for any and all help on this.
