Antique Portable "Cold" Cathode X-Ray Diagnostic Viewing Device

By G Bornschein, 2 November, 2018
Description

This antique Westinghouse portable X-Ray viewing medical device was used for small chest studies many years ago. The Fluorovue reads 70 and 35 mm photofluorograms. The "Cold" cathode light is in working condition (picture #9) and the back winder/roller is present. The well made customized case with blue velvet-like lining was specifically designed for non movement while transporting this medical device. There is a place for the back winder/roller to rest on that can be secured with bow nuts.  The case is in great condition with metal clasping latches that securely close and metal protectors on every corner. The durable handle totally and easily supports the weight for transportation. The exact size of the case is: 17"H x 13"W x 9 1/2"D. The actual weight including the case is 40 lbs.

Re: Antique Portable "Cold" Cathode X-Ray Diagnostic Viewing...

Origin Westinghouse USA

CIRCA 1930's -1941

Please note this is not an antique as it is under 100 years of age. This would be considered vintage.

A good resource is here and a picture is on pg 7

I have no idea the value of this piece but it does hold a huge amount of historical significance. I would encourage you to contact schools that train radiologists. Another option would be to contact museums of medical devices / equipment,

Thanks for sharing ...

Peace Always
