Description

Hello, I have an antique wine bottle of some sort, it looks hand made, when uncorked, it permeates the room with an old wine smell. The mouth of the bottle has a horizontal line going across the opening, almost as if a clamp was fixated on top. It is reddish brown in color, very glossy, and on the bottom, it looks as though "1901" is etched into the bottom, maybe with a knife or rock. The cork looks old itself and has always been with this piece. I'm just wondering what would this bottle be considered? And what would it be worth today?

It looks like a stoneware late 19th century gingerbeer bottle, but without markings it's original use could have been anything liquid. Values for unlabeled pottery like this tends to modest, we sell them as decorator pieces for under $25.00.
