Description
I purchased this sewing rocker at a garage sale in Fort Wayne Indiana. The woman said it was her Grandmother's chair. It is in excellent condition, including the cane seat. Everything seems original. On the bottom of the chair on the metal brackets it is engraved 'Patented June 4 1907'. The chair measures 32" H X 18" W X 28" L full length. The wood appears to be oak. I would like to know if it is in fact made in 1907. Value and any history of the item.

The "Patented June 4 1907" refers to the metal corner brace and not the chair itself. I do not know which furniture manufacturers used them.

Chairs like this date from the first quarter of the 20th Century. It looks to be maple construction rather than oak, values for chairs like this are now modest, demand for chirs like this peaked in the 1990's and has been in decline since that time. We'd retail one like this for abouT $145.00.
