Antique sled

By Sgriffin1975, 14 January, 2014
Description

I bought the sled from a nice lady who acquired it after her aunt had passed at the age of 95. It was found in her storage attic.

the sled itself is all wood (not sure what kind) with what I would call some sort of old laminate wooden seat. It is held on by finish nails displaying a rounded head on top.

All of the fasteners used on this sled have been meticulously capped with sanded wooden dowels

it doesn't have any real distinguishing marks but on one side of one of the rails I can see a faint swath of blue.

it has iron glides in the bottom that are moderately rusted but still in great shape. They are held on by pan head screws made for a flat head screwdriver.

the sled itself is only a little loose despite its apparent age.

i bought it because I loved the construction and modest size of it.  I also was curious if it would be made more value able if it were refinished using the same methods used in it time or if it would be best to leave it alone.

any advice would be welcome. I am dying to learn more about it origins and value. Thanks!
