Picked this up at a Thrift Store and was planning on stripping it down ad restoring it. Would I be doing more damge by doing this? It is pretty scratched up but need to know if I'm doing the right thing here..

Any help would be appreciated.. I'm in the refinishing business but I don't want to start the sanding process if this would hurt the value.. I'm new to all this..
