Antique Whale Oil Lamps

Description

I purchased this lamp (and it's exact matching pair) at a recent estate sale for $100.

The owner of the home was an avid auction goer and had numerous antiquest in his collection. After the purchase, an antique dealer informed me that the lamps were whale oil lamps that fall in the 1830's to 1860's range. He also mentioned that the statues on the bottom of the lamp could be cast bronze, but he did not have any more information.

The statues are mounted on a marble bottom and are extrememly heavy.  The glass tassles look hand done, but I would love any more history, value estimation, or other tidbits you could provide about the pieces.

Thank you for your help! I can't wait to learn more.
