Antique Wooden Firetools

By ktomke, 14 November, 2012
Description

I have searched online, extensively, trying to compare a set of wooden fireplace tools I own.  I have come up with absolutely nothing, making me believe that these tools are rare and, hopefully, valuable.  Not many items made from wood are used around fireplaces, yet our family used them and they are quite functional.  My father bought them from a small antique store in a small town in Iowa forty-some years ago for $250.  Not sure of the exact weight, as they are in my car trunk right now, but I am guessing they between 40 and 50 lbs.

Bought 45 years ago in a small antique store in a small town in Iowa. Mom got a remodeled country kitchen with a fireplace and they were a Christmas present to her from my dad. We used them up until they moved from that house over 20 years ago and have not been used since.
