Antique wooden sled

Description Represented as a sled used to haul maple syrup out of the Vermont woods. I have never seen another one like it and it appears based on the dimensions it could have been used for exactly that purpose. It has rounded metal runners and dowel construction in places. Weathered but in overall very good condition considering its age. The front part of the sled pivots on a bolt while the rear is stationary. I would really appreciate knowing its actual function and approximate value.
