Description

I have had this African instrument for over 20 years and wonder what it is worth.

This Kora is a long-necked harp type instrument with 3 nylon or leather strings on each side, which pass over a notched bridge, and is anchored to the bottom of the instrument.

Category Music and Music Instruments
Medium The body is composed of a long hardwood neck that passes through a calabash gourd resonator, which appears to be covered by some type of leather. The strings are either nylon or leather.
Distinguishing marks There doesn't seem, to me, to have any signature or markings except the two bull heads on the front.
Condition Good
Size and dimensions of this item 19 inches long in total. The handle is 13 inches. Te calabash is about 8 inches long and about 8 inches wide.
Date Period unknown. I have had the instument for over 20 years.
