Description
This is a buffet cabinet with a drop down bar in the middle. As you pull the handle the front drops down (becomes a shelf) and the top raises on hinges revealing a mirrored back and shelf bordered in a red detailed leaf pattern. There is a siver rail on the shelf and hardware attached to the top for bar tools.
A door on both sides conceals a shelf (each shelf has a tag reading "SUNDRIES")and there are two smaller drawers at the top on both sides and two large drawers across the bottom.The pictures show some scuffs and scratches along the bottom of the glass doors and there are a few other (mostly surface) scratches and scufffs on the over all piece. The hardware was professionally restored, the cabinet was not.

I too have one of these. Just purchased it today from an estate sale in Santa Monica, CA. The seller believed the owner had purchased it in San Francisco. There are three mirrors, each different with burgundy accents. The first is on the bottom of the liquor cabinet in a stripe motif. The second and third are on the bar levels, each with burgundy accents, and each a reverse pattern of the other. Not mentioned was the etched glass sliding doors enclosing the bottom liquor cabinet. Also at the rear of the upper most bar level, just below the bar tool holders is a fixture for a single ended tube light, possibly a Lumaline, and maybe an add-on. The sellers were offering it at $795 which I judged was a pretty good price for the LA area, but it didn't sell. I suggested they should buy it themselves, and sell it. They felt it was worth $1500, but didn't have the space to keep it and sell it. So I ended up getting it for $425, an extremely good price. It has a normal amount of wear, near fine and I would definitely not refinish it.
It has the rounded curves of Streamline Moderne style, maybe mid to late 1930'sm but possibly early post-war. It's nearly a companion piece to my Grandfather's 1946-7 Zenith floor radio, also with Moderne corners, and a similar veneer of flowing wood grain. I would guess it's easily worth $1000 depending on which city you're in, but I'm not a dealer and not really an expert. It's a beautiful piece and I'll never sell it. If I can find a Lumaline, an incandescent tube light that was used for display cases and puts out a subtle cosmetic peach color, i'll install it where the fixture is, and might even tuck a few colored LED's out of sight in the top rear of the glass-enclosed liquor cabinet or set some colored low wattage flourescents at the rear bottom of the liquor cabinet to backlight the bottles. For the two end cupboards, I'm thinking of building or buying some little wine racks that will slide into the space. Then, all it lacks is a silver ice bucket and Humphrey Bogart mixing a hi-ball for Lauren Bacall!
