Asian bronze vase (Japanese?)

Hello,

My father picked this up while he was overseas years ago.

It measures 16" high, 10" wide & weighs 11 lbs.

It has writing on the bottom outside as well as characthers on the inside bottom of the vase.

I am intrested to know its age, historical signifcance and value.
