Description
I have two photos showing this object. It is 3 5/8 inches long, 1 7/8 wide and about 3/8 inches thick. It is black lacquer wood with hinged tabs made of what appears to be ivory with carved jade insects and birds on each tab. Five larger tabs about 1/2 inches wide and as long and three smaller tabs about 1/4 inch wide and 1/2 inch long. they are placed along the long edge of the piece, four large tabs on one side, one large and three small tabs on the other.
Re: Asian game piece?
Wow...I remembered trying to look this up when you posted this...found out what it is, today accidently & had a hard time finding your request, again. It is a Japanese lacquer Shibayama Whist counter used to keep score...$500 bucks, maybe... http://www.ancienteastantiques.com/items/824602/item824602ancienteast.h…
