The Asian painting I have know idea, whose the artist, and whats it worth. The print I've learned who was the creator.
PRINT:
The print (an etching and engraving) is by Jacques Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783), produced after a painting by Jean Baptiste Pater (1695-1736). It is a portrait of a French actress, Marie Anne Botot Dangeville (1714-1796), who was known as 'Dangeville le jeune' (the name used on the print). The print was announced for sale in the 'Mercure de France' in January 1732. In the earliest impressions the actress did not have the ribbon around her neck (as she does in this impression). The long title translated into English is: 'Mademoiselle Dangeville the younger, represented as Thalia, with Spirits dressed as different comedy characters'. Thalia was one of the nine Muses. She is particularly associated with comedy and pastoral comedy and often depicted holding a mask.
