Description This is one of two water color paintings we received from an estate. We don't know much about the painting. It is a painting of aspen trees with mountains in the background. The picture is in decent condition with some rippling along the top edge. Unfortunately it has been taped to the matte. We have not removed the tape. The artist's signature is Mary Ann Sharpe. It is in the bottom right hand corner of the painting.

Mary Ann Sharpe is a known Victorian Age Water Color artist. She lived from 1802 to 1867 and has exhibited in the Royal Acadamy in 1863. She has had a number of works go on sale, I am trying to find the sale prices now. The tape is unfortunate, but likely can be restored by a professional. If you can get the work verified as her's, by a reputable dealer or auction house you may have a significant work on your hands. Some of her works are: The Two Miss Gunnings Drawing-Watercolour, Watercolour/paper (27.94x25.908 cm) Georgina Westmacott, grand daughter of Henry Westmacott sculptor Miniature, Miniature (16.8x12.2 cm) Portrait Of Henryviii Watercolour (17.78 x 13.97 Cm) Signed (two ladies) Watercolour (43.18 x 30.48 x 33.02 Cm) I'll let you know if I can find any prices that they sold at. Remember, to get those prices though, you need to have the work professionally verified. Garry
