I have a bayonet with scabbard 

markings are as follows :

US M8A1

V.P. CO

made by : Imperial 

I don't know the history of it or the background and would like to know .. Possibly what it is worth because of selling this 

thank you

It's a m5 or m5a1 bayonet it should say next to the maker imperial on the other side of blade.if it says m5 It's from the Korean War era. If it says m5a1it was made after the war in the early 60's.The scabbard is original  and is from the mid 60's. The pwh means Pennsylvania working house of the blind. They assembled the scabbards. You can still buy these bayonets online for around 70.00 dollars. Still a nice piece for any collection.
