According to information on the internet, Berkey and Gay began making furniture in the mid 1800's. The branded label was used from the beginning of production until around 1900. This piece is large, very pretty oak wood. has a mirror on the back of the buffett. This piece is in great condition with some nicks and two small spots where the finish has come off. Has a top drawer the length of the buffett and two small drawers below. Two cupboards with key holes and two cupboards on either side of the two small drawers with a single shelf inside. I would like to know if anyone has information on this piece and an estimate in what it is worth.

Berkey & Gay was well known for its "Revival" pieces, most made during the second quarter of the 20th century. Most were a mix of Colonial or Federal styles with a bit of Art Deco thrown in. The company went bankrupt in 1931; reopened in 1935. Bankrupt again in 1948 and bought by Harvest Furniture Co. of Louisville, Kentucky. This one is in the Empire Revival style and looks like it's mahogany not oak. It's a great piece, but the empire style is not currently very popular. At auction it might go for $500.00-800.00.
