Berkey&Gay span Umbrian side table with top that opens early 19th century

Description
Found this piece today. Marked Berkey&Gay span Umbrian. I think it’s early 1900’s from Grand Rapids, Michigan what is it? Value? Top inlay damaged.
Berkey & Gay Furniture Co was located in Grand Rapids Michigan.
The Span Umbrian Design was advertised in an ad dated 1918. This ad I reference was on Ebay. The damage on this piece needs it to be restored professionally and at what cost I do not know. Its imparitive that the wood be replaced with period wood. With that the company itself went bankrupt in 1931 and reopened in 1935 after recieving monies from a $2 000 000 lawsuit they won. The US Patent tag was not implemented until around 1929 which helps to date this piece. More details on link below.
Vintage Berkey & Gay Furniture Co. Span Umbrian Side Table
Circa 1929 - 1931
Est Value: $50 - $100 due to damage. After professional repair to top $300 - $350. In its current state on your house insurance I would put $120 US value - Once repaired properly $400 - $500 US on your house insurance.
Please leave a reply to give me some feedback on my valuation. Thanks for sharing ... Nice piece of Michigan history ....
Peace Always

Thank you, very helpful. How would you go about finding someone to repair the damage? Is it cost effective or if I plan to keep should I try to sand and restain the top myself?
Your most welcome .. I would suggest you have it professionally restored. Someone may have a piece of vintage wood perhaps with inlay ... they could use to simply replace the top. The problem with doing it yourself it may effect its value, if you ever decide to sell it. If you look for antique restorer's in your area (with good reviews) I am sure it would not take them to long to do it as the damage is just the top .. the rest is solid. Warmest Regards ... TJG
