Black Soldier Toy / Game

By shademaster, 23 November, 2008
Description

My mother thinks that it may have come from Africa.  Someone who grew up in the house was in Africa in the service perhaps around 1930.  I think the house was originally built by an old sea Captain.  My Grandmother and Grandfather purchased the house in the 1950's.  They wanted my Father to tear out a wall in the kitchen which was a divider into the pantry.  When my Father took the wall apart this little game was sitting on a two by four totally boarded up for all that time.  It looks like there may have been another layer of paper  covering the back of it.  The back looks like a type of thin wood or paper.  The band around the outside is hand tooled.

Rolling ball puzzle. Made in Germany ca. 1900. There were many different face variations.
