Bow Back Windsor Arm Chair

By TRAVELCAROL, 26 August, 2009
Description

This Bow Back Windsor Chair is like a member of the family. I'm not sure how my parents obtained it, but it's been a favorite place to sit since my childhood. I notice that the (pillow) cushion has been upholstered into the middle of the seat. I'm not sure if that part of the seat is actually original to this chair. The original chair looks like it was designed to have the cushion but I'm sure it was changed out and reupholstered at some point. Most chairs I've seen have a solid seat, but this looks like the wood was built to hold a cushion.
The chair has a mark on the back of one of the front legs, where the finish and some wood has been scoffed off. It's where the crossbar enters the leg. I didn't notice it before I was measuring it today. It might be able to be touched up but I don't want to refinish any part of this chair.
