Brass Elephants on Marble and Metal Base

Description

Recently I purchased a pair of brass elephants which are on a marble (I believe) and Metal (feels like wrought iron), base, from my local thrift store.  I don't know much about brass and can't tell if it is solid brass or not, but they are very heavy, given the marble and metal.   Each Elephant itself is 7 1/2 inches in height  from foot to the top of the Howdah, and approximately 8 inches in width.   Each  piece itself is 13 inches in height from bottom of the metal base to the top of the howdah and approximately 8 1/2 inches in width from one end of the marble to the other.   All the photo's are of one of the elephants, but they are both identicle.

The detail is beautiful and I hope I have provided enough photos to help assist in the appraisal.  I have seen the prices on similar items and they  vary considerably and I just don't know if they come from the home decor department at walmart, or if they are an import worth a buck or two.    I am looking to sell them at some point, and would like to be as accurate in my description as possible.  Thank you very much!
