Brass or copper hand engraved snuff box (chinese, japanese, or egyption???)

I have a hand engranved snuff box with a large relief depicting some kind of sacrificial image on the lid. No dates or wording can be found (by me) any where on the box. It was passed down to me by an uncle a few years ago and I would like to find more information about it. Ive seen some similar to this going for over $500 but they are no where as detailed as this on is so Im curious what this is and where it may have came from. It is about 3.5 inchs long and 2.5 inchs wide and about 1.25 inches tall. The bottom peice smells like copper (like a penny) and the rest smells different. There also seems to be either wording or tooling marks on front inside of the box. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I can add more pictures if needed. My camera only took these ones under the allowed size of 2mb per picture. Thank you.
