Description Female's head comes off, both of male's legs and one arm removable. Unsure what originally held it together, holes line up-using brass screws as pegs. (background grid is one inch squares).Damage is pitting overall, facial dents, small part appears to be missing from the square in the female's bag, top of male's knife has small chip out. No maker's mark that I can find. My father collected antiques and bid on a sealed wooden crate supposedly off a ship in the late 1950's, Washington DC area. My brother recalled he sat on the crate while deal finalized, labels on the box were not English. Father died 1975, I've had since 1984. Incredible detail, fingernails, his mustache, her hair, etc. Was told by a dealer it must be signed because of this. Have not been able to find anyone to even venture to appraise it or guess at its history. My father had thought it perhaps sat in an English garden during the war (to explain the facial dents), A dealer told me several years ago definatly not English as faces are not round, but perhaps French or Italian. It is not mounted to a base but has holes in bottom of feet where it may have been at sometime. Anything you could tell me, or anyone you could refer me to that could help me find out what this is, where it is from and what it is worth, would really be appreciated. May consider selling this item if price is right. Thanks.
