Perhaps some sort of medicine bottle, if there's "Pat" (patent?) on the bottom? Maybe that's why it says "Federal law forbids sale or re-use"? I was going to say maybe used for liquor, but that wouldn't be patented.
I have no idea as to value, but perhaps what it may have held.

thatcher manufacturing co "tmc" from it looks like possiably 1964 from the patent date . it has almost no value without the lable a pretty common bottle. maybe worth about 50c
