From what I understand, the stove would have been installed new around 1931 when the cabin was built. The stove is a "pot-belly" stove, black cast-iron, with the markings "Bucks Oak" and "65B" on the front of it. I'm in the process of cleaning the stove to see if I can uncover any additional markings. As I research the name Buck's from that time frame, I'm uncovering a lot of information on the "Gompers v Bucks Stove & Range Company" trials that went all the way to the Supreme Court in the early 1910's. There also seems to be a few company's that were located in other states that went by the name of "Buck's Stove", but it appears that the one from St.Louis that was involved in the Supreme Court cases would be the most likely manufacturer of this stove. Are there any experts on antique stoves? If so, I'm wondering if you have any knowledge of the company, their history and/or demise, and ultimately whether there would be any marketability for a classic stove like this. As I get it cleaned up, I'd be glad to send you some pictures to help identify it.
