Description

I have an interesting carved and upholstered chair. It's in rough sahpe, but I like the look of the design. The "square-ish" carvings remind me of craftsman style, but I've never seen similar examples. small pocelain casters, I think put it in an ealier era. Arms are doweled into back frame (I can see this becasue they're loose). Any help in identifying the age, or any information about it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your chair is in the Eastlake style, which was popular from the early 1870's through the 1890's. Demand for Victorian furniture like this has declined a great deal from it's last peak in the early 1990's. At auction comparable chairs now sell for under $75.00.
