Carving of Native Woman

Description

The bust is made of dense dark wood, and was at one time coated with a varnish-like material, which is now partially cracked. It's approximately 12" in height and heavy. There are no markings on the carving. I suspect South America but I need help. Noteworty is the fact that the woman's ears are stretched, she wears a bandana around her head, and her hair has a bun in the back with a pipe inserted as well. Any help in identifying where this may have been made and how old it is would be greatly appreciated.I assume it's not very valuable but any thoughts on that would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Gary
