http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=mold+for+head+cheese+slaughter&aq=f&oq=&aqi= It might be a head cheese mold. When slaughtering at the farm was a routine household activity many homes had large kettles, hook handles, sausage grinders, and other common household processing tools. The piece in the picture "appears" as my best guess to be a mold for this activity. This mold would be a poor piece for molding anything else. Nonetheless an interesting piece and highly probable not vintage but 100 years or older. The practice of home slaughtering has fallen out of style for a variety of reasons. I fon't think the piece is of high-value as an antique, but it definetly is an interesting antique.
