Ceramic lions

Description

My late mother bought these somewhere in California, in the Porterville area, between 1938 and 1940. They have been in the family for many years. There is no mark, stamp or anything else on the base. They are some kind of hollow ceramic and are actually quite fragile.  I have searched for many years but have never found any others; they may very well be the only pair in existence. The sitting lion is 7" tall, the reclining lion is 9.5" long. They are very peaceful figures. While they appear inconspicuous, for some reason your eyes are drawn to them.  Everybody who comes to our house notices and asks about them. At this time I am undecided as to whether or not to sell these figurines.
