Chairs unknown

By hspellman, 19 February, 2012
Description

We found these chairs at a rummage for $20.  They are sold wood and I think the original stain, etc.  They are solid wood but I am not familiar enough to tell you what kind. (not Pine though) They had straps as the support but I did remove them because they were all broken and deteriorated.  I would like to save them and add new seat areas but I don't want to touch them until I find out what they are, how old, and if they are worth anything. All I have done thus far is cleaned them with gentle wood cleaner.  any help would be appreciate because the only similar chairs I find are Victorian but these are not as ornate so I am at a loss.
