Description

Found an old silver colored pitcher, looks to be handmade and something you'd find in a church as it has religious figures formed into main body and the handle is made to look like a face. Could not find any information on this piece. Any help greatly appreciated!

Update: Found out this is an 1842 Apostle Jug by Charles Meigh. Have not found any that are silver like the one I have but do not know whether it was just pray painted.

Have you used metal polisher on it like for silver recently? If there are no markings it looks like it could be silver plated. Inside and a portion of the handle is tarnished but the entire outside looks brand new. Also see a scratch through the surface by the upper handle. Was there a photo of the bottom of the pitcher? Like the undercarriage?

Thank you for your comment. No I haven't tried using a metal polisher yet. I found out that this is a Charles Meigh 1842 Apostles Jug but I couldn't find any that were silver like this one so I am trying to figure if it was ay spray painted silver or as you said if it was silver plated.

Hard to tell if it could be a reproduction due to the silver coating. This link shows a darker color jug which could explain the darker color under the scratch in the top of the handle.
