The Lid is removable
When I bought this I was told it was China. I can see small hair like inflections on the Carriage. The coloring is beautiful! Would like to know more about it!

Items marked "Made in Japan" like this one tend to date from 1921-1940. I don't have a listing for the company marking. Values for litte trinket boxes like this tend to be modest at best, often under $35.00 at auction
