Pieces like this with the tea stained look make me very suspicious, a lot of them are resin. If this piece is solid ivory there should be a nerve channel in the base, it's usually plugged with stamped seal marking of the carver. You can test for ivory with a very hot needle, if it's resin the needle will melt into it and make a hot plastic smell.
