Description Very large signed Chinese silk embroidered piano shawl or Canton Manton De Manila. Excellent condition. No stains or holes. Minor fraying of fringe. Exquisite workmanship. Found in an attic in a Holt Renfrew box.

History Exquisitely embroidered on both sides, this vintage Manton de Manilla boasts mastery of the ancient craft for which Canton (modern Guangzhou) is known. It was purchased at an estate auction and was in a Holt Renfrew box. It was likely specially designed haute couture piece of the time, and unlike other similar silk embroidered shawls on the market, this one is signed by the artist.
