Description

Small (16" dia, 21" high) very heavy wood, carved and probably ebonised. It appears to be either Chinese or Japanese or possibly from India.

It has been in the family (originally South London or Yorkshire) for many years, probably since (or even before) WWII. There are no identifying marks that I can find

Any ideas please as to origin and/or value?

Thanks

David

It looks Chinese, stands like this were used to display large porcelain vases and urns. Most date from the turn of the 19th century through the 1930's, but they remain in production to this day. At auction comparable stands sell in the $150.00- $250.00 range.

Thank you, that makes sense as it was used to display a large chinese vase.

Do you have any recent auction data to support the valuation?
