Description
This desk has 19 drawers including 7 "hidden drawers". Two are drawers hidden behind other drawers as false backs. It has an inlaid leather top and cabriole legs with ball and claw feet. It looks like it has been refinished sometime in the past by a nonprofessional. It has a small door in the center front. The top is not attached to the base, it just sits on top. The drawer bottoms are made of solid wood that looks as though it was tapered by a hand plane. The entire piece looks hand made to me, except maybe the dovetails. My main question is, is it really old or a copy of something really old?

Re: Chippendale Style Desk

Based on what I can see it is an Asian reproduction, but such pieces really need to be physically examined.

Lovejoy
