Description

This has been our family as far back as I can remember. I am unable to find anything regarding this painting titled "Christmas Eve". It is a reverse painting on glass. I have only been able to find Chinese reverse paintings. It is not signed, so far as I can see. There are a few chips in the original framing. The backing that covers the glass it in fair shape, with a chunk of it missing. The painting itself is in perfect condition. If anyone has any information, it sure would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

I have the exact same painting. According to my mother it was wedding gift to her Great Great Granparents. My Grandfather brought it over with him when he came to the United States in 1928. Painter is also unknown and in different frame. Apparently it originated either in Germany, Seria, or Croatia as the family moved around Europe before settling in the Balkans where my Grandfather was born in 1892. I have this same painting! O my I have looked everywhere for information on it! Do u have any idea what these paintings are worth! Or any other background on the artist or where it came from! It has been in my family for over 100 years!  I would love any other info that u have on this painting! Thanks so much!

I also have this EXACT same picture as well as my frame is EXACT to yours. Yours looks to be in perfect condition. I do not know much about it except it has been in my family for years. I am 66 and I think my Mom said that my Great Aunt & Uncle bought it at an auction for 50 cents in the 1930's in Sidney, NY (central upstate NY). The paint has cracked in several places on my picture. Sorry I do not know more about it. ENJOY and pass it on!

I have a painting very similar to the buildings, however, mine has people and a dog in the foreground.  Mine is labeled No. 106. A.B.
