Description This was my great grandmothers. My Grandmother can remember it only back to the 1950's but she thinks it was older because she found it packed away in 1920's newspapers in her mothers things. It is interesting piece with curled edges, it is done in a cobalt ground with thick moriage like enamels and gold higlights. The scene is oriental but I think this is European, the bottom has three impressed anchors and some kiln spur marks. It is an odd piece and I haven't had a apprasier yet tell me who made it. It is not made by Anchor Pottery an American co. It is not Japanese or Chinese, I am pretty certain is is European. My family was was from France and also lived in England and Germany so it could be from pretty much anywhere. It is made of a faience or earthenware as it does not ring like porcelain. it is very finely painted and of a high quality, if you could help me with this I would appreciate it.
