Distinguishing marks on the back of each plate is a JI mark I believe it would be "James Ives"

It's very unlikely these plates date from the 1880's, the vast majority of pottery with Currier and Ives transferprints postdate World War Two. A lot of them were made under contract in England for US Retailers, we could tell you more if we could see some images of the back of the plarte and its markings.
