Decorative metal cylinder. My mom used it to cover clay pots for her indoor plants. I do not know what its original function was. It looks like a decorative pot, but there is no bottom. Instead there is a metal sleeve or rim that looks like it fitted into something else. It is 8" high and 9.5" across at its widest. It's opening at the top is 7.25" and the opening at the bottom is 5." I cannot tell what kind of metal it is but it is greenish brown and wieghs just over 5lbs. The color may be paint or stain as one of the birds on it seems to have a drip mark at the bottom (see picture.) It has four framed scenes, each with a bird or two on it, as well as branches, a mountainside, and a river. There is also a place where it is patched with the same kind of metal with the same etched design on it. The patch is .5" x .75".My mom found this piece half buried in an Los Angeles junk yard in the mid sixties.
