Depression era dining set, maybe...

By bfolk, 21 July, 2015
Description

Hello,

I found this at a local thrift store for $700.00.  There are a total of 8 pieces including the 4 chairs.   I was hoping to clean it up and use it at home.  It only has 4 chairs and they need some work, but it is in mostly good condition.  There are some pieces of trim that are missing, but they are all in an interior drawer from what I could tell.  Anyway, was I right in guessing depression era?  is $700.00 too high?  My other concern is my complete lack of skill in repairing, refinishing furniture.  I want to try, but the small carvings are going to be a pain in the butt.  I think it would look good with a dark stain.

Anyway,  I appreciate any help you can offer.
